For those of you who have not yet checked-out the latest release (release candidate, at time of posting) of phpMyAdmin, the PHP front-end for MySQL database administration, I highly recommend you give it a go.
It seems to be all of what v3 was trying to do, except perfect (near perfect– apparently– as it’s only a candidate, yet). All the tricked-out JavaScript Ajax stuff seems re-wroked; re-done from the ground up (i dare say, not really knowing any details to be true), and working very well.
Really nice new navigation panel; iframe at the left; database / tables tree view (collapsible, featuring new columns and indexes separation). Pragmatic.
Download yours now!
If you don’t need all of the power that phpMyAdmin has to offer, then check out Adminer! I personally use it more often.
