Search Sidebar Browser Panel :

Just follow these few SIMPLE steps for adding your custom Your-Saved-Bookmarks search to your browser sidebar panel. It works surprisingly well for being so simple, IMHO.

Step-by-step – Create your personalized sidebar:

  1. Go to your account on (as in ).
  2. Using the drop-down selector there, you MUST select Your Bookmarks for this to work as intended. personal bookmarks
  3. Without entering anything into the search field, hit the Search button. (When you get to the blank page of no results, you’re at the right spot.)

  4. Highlight the URL in the browser address bar, (it should look something like
    then right-click and select copy. The URL should now be copied to your clipboard.
  5. Use the Create-a-Panel page here at Novice Notes to add the Panel to your browser
  6. All done! now open your browser sidebar and try your creation. You might have to right-click to “open in new tab” your search panel results.

Have fun!

You should now have a panel which will search only the items in your own account. When you produce search results there, you may need to right-click and select open in “new tab”, or else the desired page might load in the sidebar itself. This variable depends upon other browser settings, so you may have to experiment a bit.

If you’re having problems with the step of copying the URL:
to be certain you’ve copied the data correctly, you may wish to paste the clipboard data into a text editor such as Notepad, Gedit– to confirm you’ve copied the proper data. (the KDE Klipper, or other “clipboard managers” come in handy for this sort of thing!)
